Q: WHEN DOES THE BASEBALL SEASON START AND END?
A: The Pony season starts Mid-April and ends in the end of June. The goal being to wrap up regular before the 4th of July and playoffs follow the holiday. For our High school aged divisions (Colt/Bronco) the season will start after the school season ends and will encompass approximately 8 games.
Q: WHAT ARE THE DATES OF THE GAMES?
A: Pony typically plays on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. Final game dates are not determined until coaches go through our game reschedule process in which coaches have the ability to schedule around personal conflicts. After this process final game dates are published and will only change with inclement weather. PLAYOFFS WILL FOLLOW THE FINAL GAME OF THE SEASON FOR APPLICABLE DIVISIONS.
Q: WHEN ARE PLAYOFFS?
A: Playoffs will follow the final game of the season for applicable divisions. For Pony Colt and Bronco this should follow the July 4th Holiday.
Q: WHAT AGE GROUP SHOULD MY CHILD PLAY IN?
A: It is the leagues recommendation that your child play in their age division or if they are younger for their grade level they can play their appropriate grade level. At the parents discretion your child may play up a division if you so choose, however they may NOT
play down a division. See the below guidlines for divisions and ff you are looking at playing in a different age group please reach out to league leadership for guidance.
Pony - Plays a 54' Mound and 70' basepath. Typical age is 11-13 yrs old and typical grades are 6th-8th Grade
Colt - Plays a 60' Mound and 90' basepath. Typical age is 13-15yrs old and typical grades are 8th-10th Grade
Bronco - Plays a 60' and 90' basepath. Typical age is 15-18yrs old and typical grades are 10th-12th Grade
PLEASE NOTE: DEPENDING ON ENROLLMENT NUMBERS SOME AGE GROUPS MAY BE COMBINED. TBB Leadership will do its best to make sure divisions are competitively balanced to provide for the best experience for all.
Q: WHEN WILL WEATHER DELAYED GAMES BE RESCHEDULED?
A: We adopted a policy that the first two inclement weather events per team will be cancelled and not rescheduled. If a game is started it will be continued at a later date. The re-scheduled game will be scheduled according to field and coaches availability. Our goal is to announce the reschedule date within a few days of the postponement.
Q: MY CHILD WOULD LIKE TO PLAY WITH HIS FRIEND, CAN I MAKE THAT REQUEST?
A: Since the inception of Troy Baseball Boosters we have always organized teams by neighborhood / school and continue to do so today. This usually means that they will be paired with their friends by default. Sometimes we have large enrollments from certain neighborhoods which can require a split into multiple teams. When registering there is a box to fill out a friend request and we do our best to honor these requests.
Q: WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED TO PURCHASE FOR MY PLAYER?
A: If you are joining a house team, the league will provide basic equipment to each team which you can optionally purchase your own if you desire. This includes baseballs, baseball bats, helmets, baseball pants, uniform and hat. The only required equipment to purchase is a baseball glove and a protective cup (boys). Molded baseball cleats are optional but highly recommended. (THE USE OF METAL CLEATS ARE NOT PERMITTED). If you choose to purchase the optional equipment please review your divisions specific rules which govern any specific equipment rules.
